Job Details

Practice:

Warr Acres Animal Clinic is a trusted veterinary practice in Oklahoma City, OK. We offer many services to keep animal companions healthy and happy. Our commitment to excellence in veterinary medicine is matched only by our genuine love for animals.

Position Purpose:

Associate Veterinarian (DVM)

The Caseload to Challenge You. The Mentorship to Support You. The Team to Help You Succeed.

If you're looking for a practice where you can see more, learn more, and make a difference for a wide range of pets and families, this could be the opportunity for you.

We're a busy, well-established practice with a loyal client base that reaches across central Oklahoma. Our doctors see an incredible variety of cases—from wellness and preventive care to urgent visits, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, complex medical cases, and a growing number of exotics and farm animals. No two days look quite the same, and there's plenty of opportunity to explore and develop your own clinical interests.

Just as important, you won't be doing it alone. Our collaborative DVM team brings a wide range of experience and interests, and mentorship is available whether you're a new graduate building confidence or an experienced veterinarian who simply appreciates having colleagues to bounce a challenging case off of. Our approach is simple: hands-on mentorship when you need it, independence when you're ready for it.

We're looking for a veterinarian who enjoys a fast-paced environment, communicates well, values their support team, and understands that great medicine also means meeting clients where they are. You'll have the freedom to make thoughtful recommendations while helping families find realistic options for their pets.

With flexible scheduling, 30-minute appointments, dedicated surgery days, a strong support team, and approximately two technicians/assistants per doctor plus treatment-area floaters, we're focused on giving our DVMs the support they need to succeed.

New graduates are encouraged to apply. If you're looking for a place where you'll be supported as you build your skills without being held back as your confidence grows, we'd love to meet you.

Competencies:

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • A collaborative, team-first approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A desire to provide high-quality, practical veterinary medicine
  • Comfort with—or an interest in developing confidence within—a diverse, fast-paced caseload
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt when the day doesn't go exactly as planned
  • Respect for clients, teammates, and the important role each person plays in patient care
  • Curiosity and a desire to continue developing your clinical skills

Essential Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive medical and preventive care to a diverse patient population
  • Diagnose and develop treatment plans based on each patient's needs and the client's circumstances
  • Manage wellness, sick, urgent, and complex medical cases
  • Perform surgical and dental procedures based on your experience, comfort level, and interests
  • Communicate clearly with clients and help them make informed decisions about their pets' care
  • Collaborate with fellow veterinarians and a highly cross-trained support team
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  • Contribute to the supportive, everyone-pitches-in culture that makes our practice successful

Requirements/Qualifications:

What You'll Need

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school
  • Active Oklahoma veterinary license or ability to obtain one
  • DEA license or eligibility to obtain
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to excellent patient care and client service

Benefits Offered:

What You Can Expect

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Production bonus opportunities
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Flexible personal time away
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

“I love working at a Heartland-owned practice. They let us be ourselves with the support of a corporation. My relationship with our regional director is genuine and supportive. It’s obvious anytime company leadership addresses the practices that they genuinely care about our wellbeing and make decisions with our best interests in mind.
