Overview

As a veterinarian at Heartland Veterinary Partners, you will provide quality care to patients and empathetic service to clients. You will partner with other veterinarians, technicians, and client service representatives to operate as an efficient and productive team.

Position Purpose:

Managing Veterinarian (MDVM)

Family Pet Care – Toney, AL

Up to $50,000 Sign-On Bonus

Family Pet Care is adding a Managing Veterinarian to our collaborative, well-established small animal practice. We’re excited to offer up to $50,000 in sign-on bonuses for the right DVM ready to step into a leadership role.

Family Pet Care is a small animal practice with a strong, team-focused culture. We currently have two full-time doctors supported by an efficient, loyal support staff. Our practice is spacious, well-organized, and designed to allow doctors to focus on practicing quality medicine while being supported by a capable team.

Our clients are friendly, trusting, and receptive to recommendations, making this an enjoyable place to practice.

Our services include preventative care, diagnostics, treatment, surgery, and reproductive services. This role is ideal for a vet who enjoys hands-on medicine and is ready to lead while continuing to practice.

About the Area

Family Pet Care is located in Toney, AL, just under 30 minutes north of Huntsville. The area is known for its connection to science and innovation, with easy access to attractions like the U.S. Space & Rocket Center.

Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy nearby hiking and biking trails, as well as boating on the Tennessee River. Downtown Huntsville offers live music, local restaurants, and a growing social scene — giving you the best of quiet living with city amenities close by.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Role & Day-to-Day

  • Provide high-quality medical care by examining and treating companion animals to diagnose illness or injury
  • Perform surgical procedures and prescribe medications as needed
  • Operate diagnostic equipment; collect and interpret diagnostic samples
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options
  • Provide compassionate guidance for end-of-life care
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  • Support day-to-day medical leadership of the practice while remaining primarily hands-on in clinical care
  • Participate in light administrative oversight in partnership with practice leadership, with minimal non-clinical responsibilities

Requirements/Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For

  • DVM/VMD from an AVMA-accredited institution
  • Active (or ability to obtain) state veterinary licensure
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, respectful demeanor with clients and team members
  • Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 lbs independently; over 25 lbs with assistance

Pay Range:

USD $130,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
