At Woodhaven Animal Health, we pride ourselves on educating our clients to be empowered pet owners as well as the friendly, fun environment we've created amongst our team members. In addition to our wonderful culture, our doctors are supported by an incredibly experienced support staff with multiple certified veterinary technicians.

Position Purpose:

Woodhaven Animal Health in Plover, Wisconsin, is excited to add another Veterinarian to our amazing team! We pride ourselves on educating our clients to be empowered pet owners and the friendly, fun environment we've created amongst our team members. In addition to our wonderful culture, our doctors are supported by an incredibly experienced support staff with multiple certified veterinary technicians. Our confident support team ensures that our DVMs can truly practice their best medicine and are never without an extra hand.

We welcome DVMs of all experience levels to join our one-of-a-kind team. We can provide new graduates with a unique, individualized, and impactful mentorship program to give them any additional confidence and support they need. For experienced DVMs, our well-organized team and well-established practice will give you the opportunity to show off your already perfected skillsets.

We have both full and part-time positions available!

About the area: Located just outside Stevens Point in central Wisconsin, Plover has that hometown feel and encourages the “buy it local” mentality as it supports its farmers and a wide variety of local enterprises. Residents enjoy the beautiful Wisconsin River, the abundance of county parks, and the many activities they bring for all seasons. Whether you kayak in the summer or curl up in a coffee shop in the winter, Plover is the perfect place to settle down and revel in the little things.

  • Process: We want to make things easy on you! 1. Apply 2. Set up an initial call with the practice representative.  3. Schedule a visit to the practice to meet the team!  (We promise not to ask what your greatest weakness is!)

  • Schedule: We offer a fixed 4-day work week with no weekends or on-call.
  • Compensation: Let’s talk! Lay out your expectations upfront. We consider each candidate individually, taking into account their skills and experience, to offer compensation that allows you to live comfortably.
  • PTO-3 weeks vacation/sick days that we don’t make impossible to use!
  • Management: Maintain an open line of communication with your leadership team. You will be heard and taken seriously!
  • Continued Education: Ample CE allowance and FREE internal CE opportunities, including wet labs!
  • Professional growth support: Medical autonomy, support of new implementations brought to the practice, workshops, and retreats dedicated to professional development.
  • Mentorship: We offer a 6-month+ hybrid program customized to new grads based on their competencies and clinical and non-clinical development needs. An onsite dedicated mentor is with you every step of the way!
  • Helping Hands: Have an adequate number of skilled support staff by your side, with a 1:2 doctor-to-tech/assistant ratio. Focus on your patients, and let your techs do what they do best!
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, company-paid short-term disability, 401(k), and Roth(k). If enrolled, a monthly stipend to cover your individual health insurance premium is also included.
  • We’ve got you covered: Liability coverage, State Licensure dues, DEA Registration, AVMA and state VMA memberships, and any other associated memberships will also be paid for should they become due during employment.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
