SmartVet is the only animal hospital in the Bloomington and Normal, IL, area that can come to your home! Our unique mobile veterinary service brings comprehensive pet care directly to your doorstep.
Additionally, you can visit our state-of-the-art animal hospital in Normal for all your pet’s health needs. Whether you prefer at-home veterinary care or our fully equipped hospital, our veterinarians provide the latest in pet health care, including wellness care, vaccines, dental care, and surgery. We also offer digital X-rays, in-house laboratory services, and ultrasound diagnostic care.
All of our veterinarians are certified Fear Free and certified Cat-Friendly practitioners.

SmartVet Veterinary Services in Normal, Illinois, is looking for an Urgent Care Associate Veterinarian to join our growing practice. About the Clinic
SmartVet Veterinary Services offers a unique approach to veterinary medicine by combining mobile veterinary care with services provided at our fully equipped hospital in Normal. Our urgent care team treats pets experiencing illnesses and injuries that require prompt attention but may not require the intensity of a traditional 24-hour emergency hospital. Cases may include gastrointestinal concerns, wounds, lameness, respiratory symptoms, urinary issues, ear and skin conditions, minor trauma, and other same-day medical needs. Our practice provides the tools, diagnostics, and support needed to deliver thoughtful and efficient patient care.

About the Schedule
Our ideal schedule would include primarily weekend shifts, allowing us to better serve pets and families when many traditional veterinary practices are closed. However, we understand that every veterinarian’s scheduling needs are different, and we are open to discussing alternative schedules for the right candidate. Full-time, part-time, and creative scheduling options may be considered.

- Hold a DVM or VMD degree from an accredited university
- Be licensed, or eligible for licensure, in Illinois

Essential Responsibilities:
- Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
- Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
- Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
- Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
- Maintain patients’ medical records.
- Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
- Appropriate state licensure.
- Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
