Practice:
As the largest provider of both large and small animal care in Surry County, Stokes County, Carroll County, and Patrick County, Animal Medical Services offers the convenience of meeting all their animal health needs in one location. No need to have multiple clinics they have to contact.
From your lap dog to your beef cattle, and even your daughter’s new rabbit, you can rest assured that with Animal Medical Services, one phone call can get them the information and medical care you need.
Position Purpose:At Animal Medical Services, we are looking for someone eager to create their perfect associate veterinarian position. We are a mixed animal practice located in Mount Airy, North Carolina, right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Since opening in 1966, we have built ourselves upon the philosophies of family and community focus as well as the desire to be seen as part of a patient’s family rather than an extension of the internet or big-name corporations. We have a second location exactly 30 miles away in Galax, Virginia, both renovated within the last 15 years. The areas we practice in offer compassionate and diverse patients and clientele, some offering “tips” consisting of farm fresh eggs or veggies and that ensure no two days are the same.
Our 5 doctors are supported by a tremendous 22-member support staff. Of these are 2 licensed veterinary technicians well-versed in surgical induction/monitoring, IV and urinary catheterization, wound care, and more. Our assistants are great with restraint and assisting in client education in exam rooms or on farm calls. Together we offer cutting-edge medicine and medical/surgical services for:
- Small Animals
- Onsite Idexx lab
- Ultrasound
- Digital radiography
- Tonometry
- Advanced Surgical Capability (Orthopedics, cruciate repair, etc.)
- Electrocautery
- Cold Laser Therapy
- Equine
- Portable radiography and ultrasound
- Power equine dentistry
- Food Animal services and Basic Exotic Care / Wildlife Rehabilitation
Ideally, we are looking for a mixed animal practitioner, but our workload would allow for specialization. Due to our large animal case load, we do offer emergency services. However, we are willing to negotiate on emergency call as we do have ER clinics within driving distance that we utilize. We do have a specialty clinic and the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine within reasonable driving distance for case referrals as well.
