France Ave Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced and collaborative Managing Veterinarian to lead our team in Bloomington, Minnesota.

About the Managing Veterinarian Role

As Managing Veterinarian, you will serve as the clinical leader of the hospital while continuing to practice medicine alongside the team. You will partner closely with practice leadership and Heartland Veterinary Partners to support medical quality, doctor engagement, mentorship, hospital performance, and an exceptional client and patient experience.

This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who wants to have a meaningful voice in how a practice operates without stepping away from clinical medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and preventive care to small animal patients

  • Serve as a clinical leader and resource for the veterinary team

  • Mentor and support associate veterinarians in their professional and clinical development

  • Promote strong communication and collaboration between doctors, support staff, and practice leadership

  • Help establish and maintain high standards of medical care and consistency

  • Support doctor engagement, retention, and a healthy hospital culture

  • Partner with practice leadership on hospital goals, workflow, staffing, and operational opportunities

  • Encourage continuing education, skill development, and thoughtful adoption of new medical techniques and technology

  • Help create an environment where team members feel respected, supported, and empowered to succeed

What We're Looking For

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree

  • Active or ability to obtain Minnesota veterinary licensure

  • Experience practicing small animal medicine

  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills

  • A collaborative and approachable leadership style

  • Interest in mentoring and developing fellow veterinarians

  • Commitment to high-quality medicine and an excellent client experience

  • Previous medical leadership experience is preferred, but veterinarians ready to take the next step into leadership are encouraged to apply

If you're an experienced veterinarian who wants to continue practicing medicine while helping lead and develop a strong veterinary team, we'd love to connect with you.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Pay Range:

USD $115,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
