Established in 2002, the Cat Clinic of Iowa City remains Iowa City’s sole feline-exclusive full-service veterinary clinic.
This modern facility with a staff of experienced feline health professionals provides a veterinary haven to all cats, both the healthy and the healing and clients appreciate the positive difference in behavior that our warm and quiet atmosphere inspires in their cats.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually

At Cat Clinic of Iowa City, we’re a feline-only practice where cats rule and humans obey (but with love). We’re currently seeking an experienced full-time veterinarian who doesn’t just tolerate cats—they understand them. The kneading, the dramatic flops, the sudden 3 a.m. zoomies—you’ve seen it all and you’re still smitten.

An experienced DVM (2+ years preferred) with strong clinical skills and a soft spot for the purring kind.

Excellent communication skills—you know how to educate, empathize, and reassure even the most nervous cat parent.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
- Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
- Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
- Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
- Maintain patients’ medical records.
- Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
- Appropriate state licensure.
- Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
