Practice:
Dr. Barta opened Barta Animal Hospital in January 1973 in a former automotive repair shop that he had remodeled. He built a new clinic in 1997. Dr. Barta grew his clinic from one doctor and two staff into today’s successful, growing practice.
We are a true mixed animal practice, providing high-quality veterinary services in Southeast Kansas for pets of all sizes.

Part-Time Associate Veterinarian – Create Your Ideal Schedule
Independence, Kansas
Looking for a veterinary role that gives you more life in your work-life balance? At Barta Animal Hospital, we’re adding a part-time associate veterinarian who wants the freedom to practice great medicine without a full-time commitment.
We’ve been caring for pets, livestock, and the occasional exotic (hello, local zoo residents!) since 1973. Our clinic blends small-town heart with modern capabilities—making each day unique, meaningful, and refreshingly down-to-earth.

Essential Responsibilities:
Your Day Might Include
Wellness visits for wagging tails and purring patients
Herd health checks and obstetrics calls
Farm visits in the Kansas sunshine
Diagnostic workups with our in-house lab, digital x-ray, and brand-new ultrasound
Supporting pet parents through big decisions with compassion and clarity
Requirements/Qualifications:
What You Bring
DVM degree + state licensure (or the ability to get it)
Solid communication skills and a friendly, team-oriented mindset
Comfort with either small animals, large animals, or both (we’re flexible!)

Pay Range:
USD $70,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr.
