More about the Role:The Veterinary Assistant assists the veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment, monitors hospitalized pets, maintains inventory, prepares prescriptions, performs routine in-house laboratory work, educates clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and assists with surgical procedures. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 1 year of experience working as a veterinary assistant in a high-volume veterinary practice, is reliable, punctual and is able to work the required schedule:
Must be available to work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

- Organization Skills: Clear tracking of lab specimens, medications, patient instructions, workflow, and other job-related items while managing multiple patients and clients.
- Client Satisfaction: Ensuring all activities and interactions result in the highest level of client satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities:
Primary Support for the DVM
The assistant must prioritize supporting the veterinarian, including helping with exams, diagnostics, treatments, and client education.
Must work in lockstep with the DVM, adjusting workflow and priorities to assist case progression efficiently.
Exam Room Management
Responsible for rooming patients, collecting vitals, medical histories, and presenting complaints.
Must communicate with clients professionally while managing time and patient flow.
Diagnostic & Clinical Task Proficiency
Able to perform and assist with in-house diagnostics (blood draws, fecals, cytology, urinalysis, etc.).
Must be comfortable with patient restraint, preparing equipment, and assisting during procedures.
Client Interaction & Education
Must be clear, compassionate, and professional when explaining treatment plans, medications, and follow-ups.
Able to communicate medical information with accuracy and empathy.
Multitasking in a High-Volume Setting
Demonstrated ability to multitask under pressure, adjust priorities quickly, and maintain focus in a busy environment.
Professional Teamwork
Works well with coworkers in a polite, respectful, and solution-oriented manner.
Maintains a positive team dynamic even during high-stress situations.

Clinic Duties & Protocol Adherence
Participates in opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, stocking, and prepping the hospital.
Adheres to all clinic policies and safety standards consistently.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Ability to work on weekends and required work schedule.
- Previous veterinary experience preferred
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety

Pay Range:
